Packed up camp today and, not leaving until this evening, drank a lot of tea. The end of the day began the start of what turned into a 36 hour journey home with an unplanned diversion of our plane to Hawaii (my fault) after an elderly gentlemen became very poorly in transit.
And so our two-week mission was drawn to a close. An intense time and a spectrum of emotions felt at different times and in different places. Overall, I came away feeling very positive that we had been able to support our Kiwi friends and contribute something positive towards the long and hard path of recovery that lies ahead.
